Thanks - I just need some motivation (and caps help!) so I enter contests. If I win it is nice and if I don't, I gave it a shot. I win lots of "Most Creative". Not sure what that means other than I sometimes make strange icons that people don't like enough to vote for as favorite but like enough to think they are different from others. I like the banners too - usually the people who run the contest sites are pretty good designers so often the banners are quite creative.
in my opinion, it's more interesting to win "Most creative" than to be placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd, because it means that your icon is different from all the others ! i've already won "most unique" or "most creative" in some icontest and i love that !!
and you're right, most of the banner-makers are so talented, sometimes i want to win something just to have a banner lol
