casett: (Doctor Who - hold on)
[personal profile] casett
When I wrote up my LJ Profile I included that I like to make things because I do. It is what my family does and I have done it all my life. Sew, knit, crochet, paper crafts, needlepoint - whatever. So far, all I have posted is icons but these are so cute, I thought my f-list might enjoy.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] crafty_tardis and the super fantabulous [livejournal.com profile] snuffykin who created the patterns.

If you don't recognize them (how could you not?) they are the Tenth Doctor, Rose, Captain Jack and the Ninth Doctor.

Ten and Rose (Rose was chilly)

Jack and Rose dancing. I gave Jack his Torchwood Season 2 hair.

Nine and Rose cutting a rug (if you know what I mean)

Oh, oh. Can't leave Jack alone with anyone for a few seconds.

I can't take any credit for the clever part because I didn't make the pattern but like all parents I will take credit for how cute they are. Thanks!

I think so too. And I am not even a cute-loving person. These guys are just adorable.

OMG!!eleventy1!1!! Those are quite possibly the most adorable things I've seen all year. I would SO buy those from you as gifts for people.

Um, I mean, if you were ever to make them to sell. Not the ones you've got there, obviously, since you probably love them, too.

OK, shutting up now. :D

Thanks a bunch - glad you like them. I just can't sell my little friends but, even if I could, the BBC might have a problem with it. The Beeb has been cracking down on DW crafters who sell their crafts without a license.

Maybe you could learn to crochet and make some yourself?

They make me want to try. I can do a chain but never learned past that. Can you link to the pattern for me?

Date: 2008-09-15 03:04 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] casett.livejournal.com
Sure - here you go:

Nine (http://snuffykin.livejournal.com/34106.html), Ten (http://snuffykin.livejournal.com/39857.html) , Rose (http://snuffykin.livejournal.com/36508.html) , and The Master (http://snuffykin.livejournal.com/42819.html). I can't remember where I found Jack but I think it is linked from one of those and I made up part of it based on these other ones.

Give it a try. I got better at it as I went along as I hadn't crocheted for a long time!

These are absolutely fabulous. The resemblances are uncanny. :-)

Any friend of [livejournal.com profile] stargazercmc is welcome! Thanks for the kind words. I just found out about this type of crochet and this is the first time I have crocheted anything like this before but it is really interesting and fun. I think the hair is the big key to making them individuals. There is one more pattern I haven't made yet - The Master. I would love to make him as he is so deliciously evil but I might make a Dalek first. Sorry - rambling!

No worries! I've never seen crochet like that--my extensive experience *ahem* involves...a scarf. *g* I think the eyes help, too, and the clothes are very recognizable. :-)

:D Ah, well they need at least one baddie to keep them in shape. (By running away, away!) BTW, The Master looks much like Ten, but in the pattern he is actually scaled down to Rose's shorter size.

Awww! These are absolutely adorable! Even though I only recognized Jack and (after staring at him awhile because I've only just started getting into it) the Tenth Doctor, you did a fantastic job!

I can't really sew like you. I am really horrible at it. But I do like to crochet or knit while I watch the telly. Now all my little friends can watch with me :-)

And I never did get the hang of crochet. And my knitting is appalling. Actually, my sewing is pretty appalling too, but I still do it, LOL! As my mum says about mistakes - a mannie on a high horse wouldn't notice ;)
And yay for instant friends *g*

They might hide under the sofa when daleks come onscreen. Gentle coaxing with assurances that it is all make-believe, along with promises of hugs/handholding, should do to trick to get them out. ;)

Yay! My favorite pix are Nine cutting a rug with Rose --d'awww - and Jack finally getting a dance in. Whee! Might you consider sharing with [livejournal.com profile] whoknits? It's a comm for knitting and crocheting DW-related things.

OMG! Best EVAR!! I have to go and find these patterns - do they have Ianto? Eeeeeeeeee! I think I've gone into *SQUEE* overload! Thank you for sharing =D

From: [identity profile] casett.livejournal.com
I've not seen an Ianto - but he should be easy to make if you combine a few and alter the colors a bit. Both the Doctor and the Master wear suits, so putting a suit on one should be fairly easy. I made my own Captain Jack coat pattern, so it really is easy once you get the hang of it.
